About
What we do
Cabinetry
Gegg design and cabinetry is primarily a design and supplier of custom cabinetry. All our cabinetry is made to order. The cabinet styles range from basic to nearly anything you can imagine. Similarly we have cabinetry to accommodate any budget. Our main line of cabinetry is built here in Missouri by a local craftsman that has teamed up with our business to bring quality products built to our exacting specifications. We have a vast range of clients, from small remodeled bathrooms to cabinetry for an entire new home, from simple budget minded to extraordinary.
Appliances
While we specialize in cabinetry, we find that many projects incorporate Sub-Zero, Wolf, Cove, Asko and Best products. As a result we have been an authorized dealers of these brands since 2004. If these brands are in your budget, we feel they are the best the industry has to offer. Appliances come in many sizes and shapes and are integrated in to the design, so it is an important part of our design process.
Exhaust ventilation for cooking is also a very important part of the appliance package. We take pride in providing well engineered and designed hood exhaust ventilation systems that are tailored for your specific home and cooking equipment.
Hardware
The design and sale of cabinetry is our primary business, but we also offer and display an extensive selection of knobs and pulls for your cabinetry. Our hardware lines range from main stream products, to highly specialized and unique. Hardware is available to all customers (not just those purchasing cabinetry) at prices competitive with on line retailers, but with the added personal service. Click here for more about hardware…
Labor
We do not have a staff of general contractors or installers; however we have a long history of successful projects working with or through clients contractors. If you don’t have a contractor, we also work with several reputable contractors capable of handling small remodel projects to full scale large custom homes.
The Process
We encourage a collaborative design effort between owners, architects, designers, and builder, resulting in a design that works for everyone involved. In the end it is our goal to exceed the client’s expectations. We will review the process in detail during our first meeting. Often the process varies depending on remodel, additions or new construction.
Philosophy
It is our goal to provide clients with a design that reflects their living habits and personality. Through extensive interaction and collaborative efforts we work toward achieving this goal in a unique process. A value added approach maximizes the design and products that go into every project.
We have selected suppliers that operate with a similar philosophy allowing us to provide the best products and design in every category. Our cabinet makers s that focus on their cabinet making skills vs. marketing. In addition they have the capability to produce any look that we create or reproduce. Thus we can cover the entire spectrum of styles and looks that the cabinet industry has to offer. All of our major suppliers use fair wage practices and provide benefits for their employees.
Since the design process is a very hands on and interactive process, we have chosen to remain a small business and thus allowing personal involvement and participation on every project.
History
Gegg design & cabinetry was established in 1996 by Keith Gegg. Keith was educated and worked as a mechanical engineer for 16 years. Having an appreciation for architecture and design he designed and built several unique custom houses. The building of these projects led to Keith’s self taught trade skills in design, flooring, tile and carpentry. All while still working as an engineer, his common sense approach to design transformed into the study of kitchen and cabinet design. In addition to his day job, Keith began doing remodeling projects for clients through referrals. In 1996 one of Keith’s clients asked him if he would redesign and remodel their kitchen, following that project there was a series of referrals that ultimately evolved into business. As business grew he made the decision to leave his career in engineering and devote all his attention to his kitchen and bath business. With each project came a stronger drive and desire to design and create unique spaces each uniquely reflecting the client’s lifestyle.
Working from his home and meeting with clients at their home, business grew steadily. Each job became more complex and challenging. Business levels led to the addition of an employee in 2002 and the opening of a small showroom in 2003. This brought the business to a new level of efficiency and improved presentation of materials. In 2006 Gegg design & cabinetry moved to a suite next to their original office that provides enough space to present all their product offerings along with a more comfortable meeting and work space. With continued success and controlled growth, credibility was established in the kitchen and bath industry that continues to strengthen.
Personnel
Keith Gegg
The founder and owner of Gegg design & cabinetry. His approach to design centers on details, proportion, technical precision, and common sense. Keith’s interest in architecture combined with a degree in mechanical engineering create a unique background for design. When working as an engineer, one of his roles was to design manufacturing production lines; it was all about optimizing motion and efficiency. Kitchens are really very similar, in that they are small production facilities for meal preparation and cleanup, but they are also a place to relax, interact and entertain. These added elements are what make kitchen design so personal, and thus each design is unique and reflective of each clients lifestyle, taste, and personality. Kitchens and baths are very personal, and so should the design process. We spend a lot of our time in the design phase of our project; getting to know how a client lives is a big part of a successful design. Gegg design and cabinetry has won numerous awards over a span of years for his firms kitchen and bath designs. He has also earned a place in the Design Hall of Fame from St. Louis Homes and Lifestyles magazine.
Julie Cullmann
Julie earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design from Missouri State University in 2004. Prior to joining Gegg Design and Cabinetry, she was a kitchen and bath designer with two high-end, award-winning St. Louis firms. Julie was awarded St. Louis Homes and Lifestyles magazine’s 5 Under 40 award in 2019. Among other design awards, her own kitchen won a regional award in the Sub-Zero/Wolf national design contest and was published in Better Homes and Gardens Kitchen and Bath Ideas magazine. She utilizes scale, proportion and fine details, along with mixtures of materials, textures and colors to create beautiful rooms that are fun to live in. Julie enjoys the collaborative process of working with clients to produce an elegant and tailored space unique to each project.
David Reed
After graduating from Maryville University in 2011 with his bachelor’s degree in interior design, David spent the next decade working for several award-winning kitchen/bath, and residential interior design firms in St. Louis. Prior to graduation, he worked for a local design-adjacent business where he gained expertise in hardwood flooring and tile in addition to acting as a product rep for commercial flooring materials. David believes that every design should be a flawless reflection of a client’s personal style, and he enjoys the process of interpreting and seeing their vision come to life. His favorite aspects of the design process are material selection, space planning, and working out the small details that set a space apart
